Sensorium House is a home technology studio in New York. We design, source, install and commission systems across sound and vision, water and air, light and control, and the kitchen — then maintain them for the life of the house.
In 1923, Le Corbusier called a house “a machine for living in.” A century later, we’d put it differently: a home should be a tuned environment — one that performs for your health and comfort, not the other way around.

Designing for every sense is why our work spans four domains — sound & vision, water & air, light & control, and the kitchen. In each one we specify the equipment, integrate it with the rest of the house, and calibrate it once it is in.
A Worked Example: The Door
Take one ordinary object and follow the method through it. What should a door ideally do? Provide instant, hands-free access with complete acoustic and visual privacy, and security that never announces itself. No residential door does all of that — so we source each component from the industry that has already solved it.

Founded by a Musician and Technologist
Bryan Bilgore founded Sensorium House in 2007 with a music degree from Harvard and an MBA from Columbia. Before building home technology systems, he was a professional trumpet player and a programmer.
Sensorium began designing superlative entertainment systems — and along the way, made a critical discovery: no matter how fine the system, the environment in which it's placed will ultimately limit or promote its impact on health and comfort. That realization expanded our focus from entertainment to the entire home.
Our process is equal parts art and science. We travel to cross-industry shows and factories worldwide, going far beyond what industry media reveals — evaluating the engineers and visionaries behind each technology. Then we practice the art of applying that knowledge to create unique, bespoke solutions for each room of each residence.

A principal or homeowner
When to engage: Once the project is real. Earlier is better — but we have joined mid-construction and after move-in.
What you get: One consultant across sound, water, air, light, and control, instead of five who each blame the others.

When to engage: Schematic design, ideally — while walls are still lines on a drawing.

The conversation
Tell us about the house and what you want from it. We ask what you are trying to solve, not what you would like to buy. Every inquiry is read personally and answered within one business day.
The showroom
An hour in Chelsea, scheduled privately — one client at a time. Every system is installed and running, so you hear and feel the difference rather than read about it. Bring your own music. Most briefs change here.
Design & documentation
Acoustical review, infrastructure planning, and cable design while walls are still lines on a drawing. AV, IT and security scopes are issued as part of the construction set, so your architect and GC coordinate against real documentation rather than an afterthought.
Sourcing
We go and find the technology, wherever in the world it lives, and evaluate it against the room it is going into. If something better exists than what we represent, we specify that instead.
Installation & integration
On-site coordination through construction, including international projects — HVAC and millwork coordination, and the placement decisions that keep equipment out of sight and out of the architecture’s way.
Commissioning & orientation
Calibration and integration testing, then a walkthrough before handover — so the house performs on the day you move back in, and you know how to live with it.
After handover
Remote monitoring, on-call support, and a recommended annual tune-up. Rooms change, firmware moves, and systems drift. The point of the annual visit is that year five sounds like year one.
