The Home as a Tuned Environment

In 1923, Le Corbusier called a house “a machine for living in.” A century later, we’d put it differently: a home should be a tuned environment — one that performs for your health and comfort, not the other way around.

Our position

“Technology without purpose is just expensive complexity.”

Every sense. Not just sight and sound.

Most homes are designed for two senses. We design for all five — because each one affects how you feel at home.

Smell

Air purification, aromatherapy, hazard detection

Hearing

Acoustic isolation, sound quality, noise masking

Sight

Circadian lighting, contrast, glare control

Touch

Surface textures, humidity, radiant heat

Taste

Water quality, kitchen systems, cooking technology

Designing for every sense is why our work spans four domains — sound & vision, water & air, light & control, and the kitchen.

Case Study: The Perfect Door

What should a door ideally do? Provide instant, hands-free access with complete acoustic and visual privacy and security. No residential door does all of this — so we source each component from the industry that has already solved it.

This is how we became the sole US distributor for TPB Tech (Barcelona), WET-Global, and Hauck Vibra (Austria) — brands you won't find at any other integrator.

How We Source

Most residential technology integrators work from a fixed menu. They carry a few name-brand lines, install them competently, and move on. The result is a home that looks like every other project they've done.

We take a different approach: start with the outcomes you want, then find the technology that delivers them — wherever in the world it comes from.

Source globally, not from a catalog

We travel to cross-industry shows and factories worldwide — beyond what industry media covers — evaluating the engineers behind each technology.

Outcomes over features

We don’t start with a product list. We start with what each room of your home should do — then work backward to the best technology for the job.

Founded by a Musician and Technologist

Bryan Bilgore founded Sensorium in 2007 with a music degree from Harvard and an MBA from Columbia. Before building home technology systems, he was a professional trumpet player and a programmer.

Sensorium began designing superlative entertainment systems — and along the way, made a critical discovery: no matter how fine the system, the environment in which it's placed will ultimately limit or promote its impact on health and comfort. That realization expanded our focus from entertainment to the entire home.

Our process is equal parts art and science. We travel to cross-industry shows and factories worldwide, going far beyond what industry media reveals — evaluating the engineers and visionaries behind each technology. Then we practice the art of applying that knowledge to create unique, bespoke solutions for each room of each residence.

Sensorium is boutique by design. You work directly with Bryan and a small team who know your home, your preferences, and the long-term vision for your space.
